Although linen, which is woven from the fibres of the flax plant, is naturally a very hardy and durable fabric there are still some steps you can take to make sure you get the most out of your linen and add longevity to your linen products.
1. Machine wash with similar colours and fabrics in a warm, gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners and brighteners.
2. Do not bleach, dry clean or soak.
3. Linen benefits from regular use and laundering, making it softer and more luminous over time.
4. Line dry where possible, avoiding direct sunlight. If tumble drying, use a low/warm setting, hot temperatures can damage the fibres. Remove immediately after completed cycle (preferably while still damp) and promptly stretch it or hang it to allow creases to smooth out and for fibres to relax.
5. Warm iron if needed.
With the right care you can get many years of great use of your linen products. Being quite easy to care for is one of the many benefits of linen products.
